STONE RIDGE, NY- The win over SUNY Ulster marked Union County College's first win since reviving the wrestling program.

In the Owl's first competition against Jamestown CC, Rebecca Pizuto was the first Owl to ever win 16–2 while also being the first ever female on the team. It was a great way to start off the team's dual season. Frank Silva followed with another victory via Injury Default. Other winners in the dual were Vincent Figueroa and Walter Thomas. Unfortunately, the team would fall to Jamestown 30–22.

In the 2nd match of the day. The Owl's had SUNY Ulster and rebounded well. Íkenna CJ Unachukwu started the match off with a back and forth battle and came up with 19–13 win! The momentum continued and helped Vincent Figueroa, Nelson Valente, and Rebecca Pizuto get big points for the team. The dual finished with Drew Graves getting the fall and sealing the team's first ever win. Team beat SUNY Ulster 27–9!

The Union Wrestling team will be back in action on Saturday, February 8th, as they are set to enter the GSAC championship at RCSJ-Gloucester.
