Owls Baseball Sweeps Number 8 in the Nation

Coach Brett had nothing but the highest praises to speak of his team after this double header. Not only because a win feels good, but rather because they finally played to the level of talent and drive that he has seen in them since the season began. The season held a lot of struggles and growing pains, but in a double header win against the number 8 ranked team in the nation, everyone can now see the growth and tenacity of every single player that he saw starting on day one.

In Game One:

Pitcher Chris Rios pitched a complete game surrendering only 1 run in 7 innings and striking out 3.

Javier Alfonso gave the Owls an early lead with a 2-run single in the 3rd inning. In the top of the 7th with 2 outs and 2 runners on base, RF Axel Olvera delivered the big offensive strike with a 3 run home run.

In Game Two:

Freshman pitcher Michael Urbano was equally as impressive as pitcher Chris Rios. He struggled to find his momentum but quickly found his way and pitched 6 innings surrendering only 3 runs.

Axel Olvera provided all of the offense for the Owls. He went 3-3 with a pair of 2 run singles in his first 2 at bats. Union held onto their 4-3 lead from the 3rd inning. Bryan Padilla came in in the 7th inning to earn his 3rd save of the year.

An all around stellar performance by every Owl left the team excited for their upcoming games to close the season out on May 9 and 10.
