Kevan Pidgeon-Hammock has recently joined the department but is no stranger to the Union College family. Kevan joined our staff as the Information Coordinator in November 2021 but started his time with Union County College back in 2006 as a student. Kevan graduated from the school with honors distinction with his degree in psychology. He was also a member of Psi Beta and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Societies and he was also heavily involved with creating and participating in a number of student organizations on campus. After graduating, Kevan transferred to Kean University where he earned his Bachelors in Psychology and then his Masters in Human Behavior and Organizational Psychology.

Fresh out of graduate school, Kevan began teaching as an adjunct instructor in the psychology department at Union County College and Kean University. in 2018 he stepped away from the classroom and into the hopsitality industry to broaden his horizons.

As a child, and through high school, Kevan played soccer, as a goalkeeper and then left midfielder, and volleyball, as a middle. After college, he coached soccer in a recreation league for three years.

Kevan attributes his attitude and view of sports and life to his father Mark, who was also his soccer coach as a child, as well as to the movie characters Coach Carter (Coach Carter) and Coach Boone (Remember the Titans).

When asked who his favorite athlete was, Kevan said Larry Fitzgerald and Eli Manning are inspirational players on and off the field.

The quote he said he tries to live by is Albert Einstein's, "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value".
