Phantoms Fall on the Road to Union County

Cranford, N.J. - The Delaware County Community College baseball team fell to host Union College of Union County, N.J., 12-2, Tuesday afternoon.

The Owls (3-30) moved out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning before the Phantoms battled back with a run in the top of the second.

UCNJ tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the second before DCCC (1-20) once again answered back with a run in the fourth.

Closing out the scoring, the Owls added three runs in the seventh.

The Phantoms tallied six hits on the day with two each by Gabe Palandro and Cidrick Navas. Palandro currently tops the team in hits on the season.

Michael Jenkins and Hunter Whitten also registered a hit in the contest.

Navas took the loss on the mound despite giving up just four earned runs.

UCNJ finished with just seven hits on the day but benefitted from eight DCCC errors as a result of a short-handed lineup.

Thomas Scanio earned the win for the Owls.

The Phantoms return to action Saturday when they travel to Montgomery County Community College for a twinbill with the Mustangs beginning at noon.
