Five Owls Qualify for Nationals; Robinson & Moyer Jr. Bring Home District Bronze Medal

Scranton, P.A. – As the Owls shift their focus to the individual post-season, they competed in the NJCAA Gulf Atlantic District Championships this past Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, with hopes of punching their ticket to Nationals in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

 

The first stop was at the host school, Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania for the Region 19 Championships.

 

Two Owls claimed a spot on the podium, Naci Robinson (125) & Brian Moyer Jr. (285), who both went 3-1 on their way to taking home bronze medals, earning an automatic bid to the National Tournament.

 

Additionally, deservingly after a hard-fought season and notable performances on the day, Claudio Sanchez (133), Griffin Jones (157), and Ryan Creary (197) earned wildcard selections to compete in Iowa.

 

The Owls will fly out to Council Bluffs, Iowa to compete in the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships at the Mid-America Center, March 1-2. You can watch along as the entirety of the 2024 NJCAA Men’s Wrestling Championship will broadcast live on the NJCAA Network (njcaa.org/network). Students and staff are welcomed to join to watch live and cheer for our owls in the Commons, Cranford Campus, starting at 9am.
