Jen Bueno Attends the 2023 NJCAA Men's & Women's Cross Country Championship
This weekend, the 2023 NJCAA Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships took place in Huntsville, Alabama. Freshman, Jen Bueno, qualified for Nationals, representing Union College of Union County, NJ. At the NJCAA Region 19 Cross Country Championship, hosted by Thaddeus Stevens, Jen Bueno placed 5th overall and 4th place for DIII Region 19.
On November 9th, Jen Bueno headed to Alabama to compete with some of the best runners in the country. That Thursday and Friday, practice took place at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Al, where Nationals was also scheduled to be. On Friday night, NJCAA hosted a banquet at the US Space & Rocket Center, serving dinner under a real rocket.
Finally on Saturday, November 11, 2023, it was day of the big race and Jen Bueno was set to race at 1pm local time. Weather was favorable with the temperature in the 60’s and a light breeze. Bueno competed against 98 other runners, and she finished the race in 21:20.2, placing her at 18th in the Nation for DIII. A historic day for Bueno and Union Cross Country!
