Cranford, NJ - Union Owls Athletics is excited to announce Shamus Matthews as the Head Women's Soccer Coach for the upcoming Fall 2024 season. With a wealth of experience in soccer program development, player mentorship, and community engagement, Matthews brings a proven track record to the college.

In his role before joining UCNJ, he served as Head Coach of Boys Soccer at Allentown High School. Achieving a 27-27-6 record over three seasons. His strategic direction, fundraising initiatives, and community involvement not only improved athletic performance but also raised substantial funds for the boys' soccer program.

Matthews's coaching experience extends to NJ ODP (Olympic Development Program) and the New Jersey Surf Soccer Club, showcasing his ability to enhance training sessions and create positive team environments.

Matthews holds licenses and diplomas from reputable institutions, including Tovo Institute, United Soccer Coaches, and the U.S. Soccer Federation. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Moravian College and completion of the Alternate Route to Teaching Program at Monmouth University.
