CRANFORD, NJ — UCNJ Women’s Volleyball opened their 2025 season on a high note, earning a dominant 3-0 sweep over Atlantic Cape Community College in their home opener on Wednesday night.
The Owls took control early and never looked back, winning by set scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-13.
The team posted a match hitting percentage of .045, with their best offensive output coming in the second set, where they recorded 11 kills on .100 hitting.
Standout Performances:
- Nieka Michel led the offensive charge with 7 kills on a .357 kill percentage and added 4 service aces, totaling 12 points on the night.
- Giany Puero Zomora anchored the back row with 13 digs and contributed a team-high 6 service aces.
- Maya Kukielo distributed the offense with 15 assists, added 5 service aces, and recorded 1 solo block.
- Betina Cardozo chipped in 5 kills and 4 service aces, finishing with 9 total points.
- Maya Antonie and Wilny Peti-Frere provided solid front-row presence, combining for 3 blocks and 3 kills.
As a team, UCNJ totaled 20 service aces, keeping the Atlantic Cape CC on their heels throughout the match.
“It was a great way to start the season,” said Head Coach Jared Crowe, “The team showed great energy, especially from the service line. We’re still building chemistry, but tonight we saw the potential this group has.”
