Senators Get the Best of Owls, 9-7

STONE RIDGE, NY – The Owls fell to Ulster County in the rubber match of their three game series with the Senators by a score of 9-7.

 

UCC (6-11, 0-2) had their comeback effort fall just short in a hard-fought game. UCC fell behind 7-1 after the first three innings of play, but battled back to cut the deficit to two runs in the top of the ninth. 

 

Carlos Marte spearheaded the comeback effort, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and 3 RBIs on the day. Richard Bianchi matched Marte with two doubles in the game. He also swiped two stolen bases. Christian Castro and Brandon Wreckler also tallied a RBI a piece in the defeat. 

 

Austin Brooks came in relief and was stellar for six innings to keep the Owls in the game. Brooks scattered 5 hits while striking out six Ulster hitters.

The Owls baseball team will return to the diamond tomorrow with a tough challenge ahead of them in the eighth-ranked Brookdale Jersey Blues in Lincroft, New Jersey. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
