UCNJ Men's Basketball Dominates Northampton CC in 95-77 Victory
Bethlehem, PA - On March 1st, the UCNJ basketball team delivered an impressive performance, securing a 95-77 victory over Northampton Community College (NCC) in a game that showcased both individual brilliance and a strong team bond. 
 
Notable Players:
Nicolas Acosta was the standout player of the game, contributing 22 points in 40 minutes of play. Acosta shot an efficient 58.3% from the field (7-12), and his performance at the free-throw line (8-10) was critical in helping his team maintain control throughout the game. Acosta also grabbed 14 rebounds and was named Most Valuable Player of the game.
David McKnight also had an outstanding performance, finishing with 18 points on 7-11 shooting, helping UCNJ establish an early lead. McKnight's long-range shooting was especially effective, hitting 4-5 from beyond the arc.
Devin Geiger added a solid 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, making his presence felt both offensively and defensively.
Other notable contributions came from Joseph Gargiulo, who scored 10 points, and Jayden Bates, who added 12 points off the bench, including 2-4 from three-point range.
Head Coach Devon Stanberry was named Region XIX DIII Doug Yenni Coach of the Year.
UCNJ’s offense was hot, shooting 53.8% from the field (35-65) and 53.8% from three-point range (7-13). Their ability to shoot efficiently was complemented by solid ball movement, as UCNJ totaled 21 assists for the game. On the defensive end, UCNJ’s pressure was evident, limiting Northampton CC to just 77 points. The team's defensive efforts were supported by 11 steals and 4 blocks, which helped them disrupt NCC's offensive flow.
With this dominant win, UCNJ is named Region XIX Champions, District Champions, and GSAC Champions. Owls are set to travel to Herkimer for the NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Championship, which will take place from March 12-17.
