SANBORN - In the NJCAA District East Semifinals, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team fell to the top-seeded Union County College, 64-42 Saturday afternoon.

The Jayhawks (12-14) were paced by forward Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights) with a double-double, scoring 12 points on 5-for-6 (83.3 percent) shooting while grabbing 12 rebounds (4 offense, 8 defense) to go along with four blocked shots. Guard Sydney Burk (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) added 15 points on the day.

JCC found themselves in a 10-0 hole but a blocked shot by Hicks which transitioned to a basket for the forward helped put the team on the board. The Owls answered with a basket of their own but Burk came back with a three-pointer off the dish from guard D'Auzhanay Harden (Erie, PA/Erie HS) to make it 12-5 with under two minutes left in the frame.

After the first quarter of action, the Jayhawks trailed 14-6.

To begin the second quarter of action, JCC settled in, going on an 11-4 run to make it 18-17 with three minutes left in the first half. Burk and guard Zalika Stevens (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Thornlea Secondary School) helped field the run, scoring four points each. Union County opened their lead back up to eight, taking a 28-20 lead into the break.

The Owls continued to create separation in the third quarter, outsourcing the Jayhawks 20-10 in the third quarter to help secure the victory.

The Jayhawks went 14-for-41 (34.1 percent) from the floor while the Owls went 29-for-72 (40.3 percent) from the field. On the glass, Union grabbed 39 rebounds to JCC's 35 rebounds.
