Sussex Defeats Union in Regular Season Finale 95-82

The Sussex County Community College Men's Basketball team defeated Union County College 95-82 on Tuesday night (February 20).  Sophomores Jesus Romero and Nate Aklilu were recognized before the start of the final regular season game at center court with Head Coach John O'Hara.  The Skylanders got off to a quick start jumping out to a 17-7 lead early on.  Sussex went into halftime with a 51-33 lead.  The Union Owls fought back with a big second half scoring 49 points.  The Skylanders were able to hold off Union to pick up their 19th win of the season.

Sussex was led by Nate Aklilu with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Jalil Golden came off the bench to add 19 points and 4 rebounds.  PJ Ross finished with 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Point Guard David Forzani finished with 16 points and 9 assists.  Christian Archer had a big game inside with 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Jesus Romero finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds.  

Sussex finishes the regular season with a record of 19-9.  This included a home record of 11-2.  The Skylanders will begin their playoff run on Tuesday night (February 27) when they visit Montgomery County College (Pennsylvania) in the Quarterfinal Round of the Region 19 tournament.
