Esports begins its Spring Season

NJCAAE Spring 25- Week 1 Recap 

  

Fortnite No Build: 

The Fortnite team opened their season with a matchup against Pensacola State College. The Owls went into the matchup as underdogs in terms of player rankings. In the end the Owls came out on top and swept Pensacola State College 2-0. The Owls Fortnite Team will be back in action on 2/24 against SUNY: Onondaga. 

Mario Kart 1 vs 1:  

Santiago Puerto returns for the spring semester to represent the Owls in Mario Kart 1v1. This time he did not come alone. Santi will be joined by Chester Rose and Ali Garcia in 1v1 matchups this season. 

Santiago opened the season with 1 game as he received a bye for one of his week 1 time slots. In his opening match against Terra State Community College Santi swept his opponent 4-0. In his upcoming matchups for week 2 Santi will be competing against both of his teammates Chester and Ali on 2/27. 

Chester opened the season with a double header against Brookdale Community College and Terra State Community College. Chester lost his opening matchup to Brookdale by a score of 4-1. In his second matchup Chester was able to pull out a tough 7 game series win by defeating Terra State 4-3. Chester will be in action on 2/27 against Santiago and a racer from Bevill State Community College. 

Ali opened up his season with a double header matchup against Bevill State Community College and Cleveland Community College. Ali came swinging for the fences in his esports debut, winning his first matchup against Bevill State 4-3 and 4-0 against Cleveland Community College. Ali will have one matchup in week 2 going against fellow Owl Santiago on 2/27. 

Call of Duty Gunfight: 

In the great words of John Cena the Champs are here!!! The National Championship Gunfight team returned to action for the spring semester. The Owls were locked into a double header against Brookdale Community College and St. Clair County Community College. In their opening match of the evening the Owls did something they hadn't done all year and lost a game to Brookdale 3-1. The Owls bounced back nicely and won their second match against St. Clair 3-0. The Owls will be back in action on 2/27 against Alpena Community College.  

 

Rocket League: 

The Owls Rocket League team opened their season against Guilford Technical Community College and SUNY: Onondaga. The Owls went on to sweep Guilford 3-0 to win their opening matchup of the season. In the second matchup the Owls were awarded a win as SUNY forfeited the match. The Owls will be back in action on 2/28 against familiar foes Daytona State College and Wake Technical Community College. 

 

In week 2 of the esports season we will have Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 4v4, and Marvel Rivals join the competition.
