Coach Crowell joins the Owls from MPTCS in Newark, New Jersey. He has spent the last 4 years there serving as a teacher, a coach, and an athletic director.
Prior to that, Coach Crowell spent two years teaching and coaching at Innovation High School in Harlem, New York, two years coaching at Centenary University in Hackettstown, New Jersey, and three years as the Head Cross Country/Track & Field coach at Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey. He also served as a teacher at Barringer while coaching the Blue Bears.
Crowell spent 12 years as a teacher at Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey. While teaching at Arts, he also served as the Head Track & Field Coach at Bronx Community College in New York. Crowell was also an Assistant Cross-Country Coach at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, where he coached the team to the same Region XIX championships and GSAC championships where he was a member of the team that won years prior.
Crowell served as the Head Cross Country and Track % Field Coach at Arts from 2003-2015. While there, he coached the team to the 2008 Newark City Cross Country Championship. He also coached the team to finish second at the 2010 Newark City Cross Country Championship.
In addition to his coaching experience on the high school and college levels, Crowell has served as a survival skills instructor, personal trainer, and endurance sports coach for Crowell Fitness Inc. since 1989. In that role, he has trained clients in all aspects of fitness and weight management and has turned clients from recreational runners into competitive distance runners.
Crowell received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health from Montclair State University in 2003. He earned his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Montclair State in 2017 and is in pursuit of his PhD. Crowell also serves his community as a proud licensed Minister and Volunteer Firefighter.
