Union, NJ – In a heart-pounding, back-and-forth affair at Harwood Arena, UCNJ men's basketball team edged Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC) 87-84 in a thrilling game that showcased intense play and clutch performances.

The game kicked off with a fast pace, and despite a strong showing from ACCC, UCNJ found themselves trailing at halftime, 40-38. However, the second half saw both teams intensify their efforts, ultimately leading to an exciting finish. UCNJ’s resilience and balanced offensive attack propelled them to a well-deserved win.

Freshman Nicolas Acosta delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Acosta’s aggressive play and ability to contribute in all areas of the game were crucial to UCNJ’s victory.

Sophomore Joseph Gargiulo was another key contributor, finishing with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Gargiulo's leadership on both ends of the floor helped UCNJ maintain control in the second half despite ACCC’s persistent challenge.

Freshman Kanye Brown added 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, showing his versatility and court awareness. His contributions were critical in maintaining UCNJ’s offensive flow.

Sophomore Devin Geiger was a dominant presence in the paint, recording a double-double of his own with 23 points and 11 rebounds, along with 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Geiger’s rebounding and scoring, especially down the stretch, were key factors in the team's victory.

UCNJ’s strong defensive play, highlighted by the efforts of Acosta, Gargiulo, Brown, and Geiger, helped limit ACCC’s opportunities in the final minutes, securing the hard-fought win.
