Chautauqua, New York - UCNJ Union College of Union County, New Jersey student-athlete Patrick Murray of Stirling, New Jersey, finished 7th in the nation and earned All-American honors at the NJCAA Division III 2024 National Golf Championship. The Tournament was held June 4-7, 2024 at the Chautauqua Institution Golf Course in Chautauqua, New York. Patrick had a combined four-day total score of 295 in a very strong field. Murray’s finish was the best for a member of the College’s Golf Team at the National Tournament. Last season, Murray carded a four-day score of 309 on the Chautauqua Golf Course and finished in 18th place.
Murray leaves an amazing legacy at UCNJ. He graduates as a 2X All-American, 2X Region XIX Champion and 2X GSAC Champ. He won his last 11 Region Tournaments dating back to last season.
Murray had a very strong academic career as well, and graduated this May, earning a Degree in Sport Management with an impressive final 3.98 GPA. Murray was also a peer tutor in the Academic Learning Center tutoring in many subjects. In addition to his studies, Murray works part-time at Ash Brook Golf Course, Scotch Plains. He is the 11th of 12 children and Patrick credits his six older brothers for his competitive instincts in sports. In addition to his golf abilities, Murray, a graduate of Koinonia Academy in Plainfield, where he was a 1,000-point basketball scorer. Murray is incredibly grateful for all the opportunities UCNJ offered to him both on and off the golf course. He calls these the greatest two years of his life.
Owls Golf Coach Marc Postiglione was incredibly pleased with Patrick’s accomplishments in Chautauqua and believes Patrick far exceeded all his golf benchmarks in his career at UCNJ. Postiglione was even prouder of Patrick’s accomplishments in the classroom and as a peer tutor. Postiglione added that Murray was the most talented and hardest-working golfer he has ever had the great fortune to coach.

Murray will be the leader of an inaugural golf team at Kean University this coming Fall as he continues his studies in Sport Management.
