The Volleyball team took the court honoring their Sophomore teammates while also spreading breast cancer awareness on Wednesday, October 11, against Brookdale Community College.

The Lady Owls struck quickly winning the first game in 25, before losing a tight win-by-two second game, evening the set at one a piece. Brookdale then pulled ahead with a third game win, taking the 2-1 advantage, but Union quickly tied it at two games. However, in the fifth and final game to break the 2-2 tie, it was Brookdale Community that took the game in a 15-10 win, giving them the 3-2 (21-25, 30-28, 25-22, 23-25, 15-10) win for the match.

It was a devastating loss for Union going into the first round of the Region XIX Tournament, making it their third straight.  Keisha Vazquez led the attack with her 14-kill, game high, for the Lady Owls.

We would like to thank the following graduating sophomores for the volleyball team for leading the girls this year:

Amanda Green, won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award in 2016

Frangie Brisson, co-captain of the squad, and a huge part of their success the past two years

Emily Badalis, PTK Honors Society member with a 4.0 GPA, and named to the All-Region and All-NJCAA Academic teams as a Freshmen
