Union Women's Soccer Goalie Lauren Buchanan Named To Scholar All-America Team

KANSAS CITY, MO. – United Soccer Coaches announced on Wednesday the Men's and Women's Scholar All-America Teams at the Junior College level.  Sophomore Lauren Buchanan (Union, NJ) was selected to the Scholar All-America second team for her accomplishments in the classroom and on the field.  Buchannan, who currently maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA, started all 18 games for the Owls and led them to a third place finish at the National Tournament.

Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at the Junior College level must be a sophomore in academic standing at the institution and meet the following criteria:

  • 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
  • Start more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
  • Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution

Players on this year's Junior College Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Ceremony & Reception on Jan. 12, 2019 at McCormick Place West in Chicago in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
