The Union County College Women's Soccer program has started to make a name for themselves throughout Region XlX and the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC). 2012 was the debut of the women's soccer program at Union County College which completed with a 2-14 record. Just two short years later the three year old program completed their 2014 season with an incredible record of 14-3, a return appearance in the Region XIX tournament, and six nationally ranked players in three categories.
Two attack players, Catalina Lozano from Rahway, NJ and Bianca Ferreira from Hillside, NJ, had significant impact on the success of the season alongside midfielder Alexa Aldredge from Cranford, NJ and defensive player Tamoya Brown from Elizabeth, NJ.
Catalina Lozano had a very strong presence on the field, which led to her leading the nation in 38 Goals, 24 Assists, and 100 Points. Catalina is also ranked in the top 20 in the nation with 61 shots. She has earned the honor of being named to the NJCAA GSAC 1st Team All-Conference and Region XIX 3rd Team All-Region.
Bianca Ferreira is another powerhouse on the forward line. Bianca was ranked in the top 5 in the nation for Goals and Assists, 2nd in the nation for Points right behind Catalina and was also ranked 9th in the nation for Shots. A freshman forward, Bianca will be bringing much talent and experience to the Owls 2015 season.
Alexa Aldredge from Cranford, NJ is another freshman who helped the Lady Owls be as successful as they were. Alexa added to the team goal tally with 12 goals and 12 assists. As a powerful midfielder, Alexa was a consistent starter for 2014 season.
A returning defender, Tamoya Brown from Elizabeth, NJ brought collegiate soccer experience to the team. Her talents led to the lady owls having an impressive 10 shut-out games. Tamoya was named one of the captains for this year and led up to the honor on and off the field. Due to Tamoya's dedication, she was named to the NJCAA GSAC 2nd All-Conference Team. She will be truly missed by the team and the coaching staff next year.
Union County College is very proud of the success of the women's soccer program and is looking forward to the 2015 season.
