Union Women's Basketball To Play for NJCAA National Championship; Knocks of Rival Lackawanna in Semis

HARRISON, AR - In a Region XIX match up in the semi finals of the National Championship tournament the Union women's basketball team toppled #13 seeded Lackawanna 69-55 to move on to National Championship game.

In a relatively low key game Union over came an early deficit and was able to run past Lackawanna for a third time this season holding them to under 25% shooting from the field.  Sophomores Yamel Abreu and Jessica Woods both led the Owls offence with a double double in the game.  Abreu tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists.  Woods had 11 points and 12 boards while blocking four shots on the evening.  Sophomore Tania Scoot added 11 points and seven rebounds.  Sophomore Tiffany Jackson provided a spark of the bench for Union with 12 points.

With the win Union improves to 30-4 on the season.  In Union's final game of the season they will play for the NJCAA Division II National Championship versus #3 seeded Kansas City Kansas Community College in a 8:30 pm EDT tipoff in Harrison, AR at the Pioneer Pavilion.  You can watch all the action live on njcaatv.com or follow @UnionOwls twitter for updates throughout the game.
