Union Women's Basketball Claims NJCAA District N Championship

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY – The Union Women's Basketball team added another piece of hardware to the trophy box after defeating the Lackawanna Falcons 69-64 in the District N/O Championship Game.

In a game that had a little bit of everything in it, the Owls were able to hang on to ensure back-to-back District N Championship campaigns. Union was led by Region XIX Player of the Year Yamel Abreu, who tallied 23 points in the victory. Jessica Woods also added 12 points and 7 rebounds on an effective day in the paint. Tania Scott filled up the stat sheet with 7 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds in the victory.

The Owls as a team did a good job crashing the boards to create more offensive opportunities. As a team, Union had 13 offensive rebounds, with 6 coming from Jessica Woods and Tiffany Jackson.

This exciting season of Union Owls Women's Basketball continues with the NJCAA Division II Championship Tournament set to get started on March 19th.
