Union Women's Basketball Conquers Fifth Ranked Tribunes; Second Major Upset This Week

CRANFORD, NJ - The Union women's basketball team took down the #5 ranked Monroe Tribunes 65-48. This is the second top 20 NJCAA ranked team the Owls have upset this week.  An 18 point difference in the second quarter was the difference in this game as Union locked down on its defense.

Union was led once again by the sophomore duo of Yamel Abreu (Elizabeth, NJ) and Jessica Woods (Linden, NJ).  Abreu had 19 points and 8 rebounds on the afternoon, while Woods had another double double with 11 points and 13 boards in addition to eight blocked shots.  Sophomore Rhoda Agyemang (Irvington, NJ)added 10 rebounds.  Micaiah Battle (Scotch Plains, NJ), freshman, had six points and five rebounds and her sophomore teammate Jessica Washington (Irvington, NJ) had a good afternoon chipping in nine points and five boards.

With the victory Union improves to 8-3 overall.  The Owls are back in action for some more home cooking as they host Sullivan County Community College on Tuesday, December 11 for a 7:00 pm tipoff.
