Turnovers Prove Costly As Union Women's Basketball Falls To #1 Monroe

ROCHESTER, NY - In an early season battle of top ranked teams Union fell to number one ranked Monroe 64-60 on the Tribunes home court in the Murph Shapiro tournament championship game.  The game saw four ties and three lead changes. The Owls largest lead was five points early in the first quarter, but the turnovers and Monroe's ability to score on those turnovers was too much for Union to overcome in the loss.

The sophomore trio of Yamel Abreu, Jessica Woods and Tania Scott had 39 of the teams 60 points.   Abreu totaled 17 points with 8 rebounds, Woods dropped 12 points while grabbing 8 boards and Scott chipped in 10 points.

The loss drops Union's record to 3-1 on the season.  The Owls return to the hardwood on Tuesday, November 13 as the travel to Scranton, PA and visit Region XIX rival Lackawanna College beginning at 6:00 pm.
