Abreu's 25 Points Leads Union Women's Basketball To Win in Season Opener

CRANFORD NJ - The Union women's basketball team got their season off on the right foot overwhelming Borough of Manhattan Community College by a score of 93-23. The Owls did not lose the lead from the opening bucket. Union's pressure defense and smooth offensive transition were the keys to their victory.

Sophomore Yamel Abreu (Elizabeth, NJ) lead all scorers with 25 points including five trifectas.  Fellow sophomore teammates Jessica Woods (Linden, NJ) and Tania Scott (Newark, NJ) each chipped in 15 and 11 points respectively.  The #12 ranked Owls look to improve on their 28 win season last year, which saw them win the Region XIX Championship and take home 7th place at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Union's next game is on Tuesday, November 6 when they travel to Hostos Community College for a 6:00 pm tip-off.  With the win Union improves to 1-0 on the season.
