Jessica Woods has been named the Garden State Athletic Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Jessica Woods aka "Big Jess" has been tenacious down low for the Union County College Lady Owls. Her rebounding presence and blocked shots can be very intimidating, giving the Lady Owls confidence to finish out games. The past 3 games Jess has led the Owls with 3 double-doubles. On Tuesday 2/6/18 vs. Lackawanna College, Big Jess had a huge game with 15 points, 23 rebounds, 5 blocks and 2 assists. Following that, on Thursday 2/8/18 vs. Harcum College she contributed to the win with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 8 blocks and 2 steals. This past Saturday 2/10/18 vs. Essex County College, she also finished with a solid game obtaining 12 points, 12 rebounds, 7 blocks and 1 steal.
Union County College completed their regular season schedule in the number seed with a record 19-1. On Wednesday, February 21st at 6pm the Region will be announcing the seeding for the Region XIX tournament that starts on Saturday, February 24th.
