Men's Soccer to Host Big Conference Game vs Camden

Still fresh off his 300th win dating back to September 16, Coach Alex Louis and our Union County College Owls (8-5-2, 7-1-1) faceoff against conference leader Camden County College (10-3, 8-0) at home on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 3:30 pm at Berkeley Heights in a critical, must-win conference game for the boys from Union County.

The Owls have hit a poor run of form on the pitch with 3 wins, 4 losses, and a tie since the September 16 meeting with Cumberland County giving Coach Louis his 300th win.  Union's high octane offense with 46 goals through only 15 games in the season, with a 3 goals per game average will surely have Camden County on their heels.

Look for Raonne Dos Santos to lead the Owls' offense with his 17 goals, ranked 4th among Division III athletes. Dos Santos is in excellent form as he has scored 9 goals himself in the last 5 games.

However, do not expect Camden County to give little resistance against this Union offense. Camden County's goalkeeper, Joao Reis has allowed only 8 goals to his name through 10 games, but do not look into the numbers too much, as his save percentage is .200, with only 2 saves on the year. Given that, look for Camden's defense to be a focal point in hopes of limiting the total number of shots on goal today.

The young forward from Union and the back 4 for Camden will factor in greatly to the result of the upcoming match. Does Raonne Dos Santos have the ability to lead Union County to a vital, late-season win against the conference leader in hopes of making a push for the top of the table, or will Camden County be able to limit the number of shots on goal and be able to hide their lack of presence at the goalkeeper position as they have throughout the season?

We will see.
