Jerry Henderson has begun his second season as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Union County College.  Last year Coach Henderson was named head coach of the Owls right before the season started and he did an outstanding job during his first season. 

During his first year at the helm of the team he compiled a record of 16-12 where he took the team to the NJCAA Region XIX quarter-finals where they came up short to Brookdale Community College.  Under Coach Henderson’s direction the team led the nation in 3PT percentage with 48.5, 2nd in the nation with Scoring percentage and was 6th in the nation with 92.3 Points per Game.  A highlight of the 2016-17 season was Sophomore Chinua Messena being named to the NJCAA 1st Team All-American, Region XIX Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference for the Garden State Athletic Conference. Chinua led the country in Scoring and 3 Points and was invited to play in the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game in Las Vegas where Coach Henderson accompanied Chinua.

Prior to becoming head coach at Union County College, Coach Henderson served as an assistant coach for three years at The Patrick School which is formerly known as St Patrick's. During his first year at The Patrick School he was the head coach for the JV team and led them to be County Champions.  Coach Henderson pulled double duty and was the assistant coach on the Varsity team where he aided in an additional two County titles.  Through is tenure coaching Coach Henderson has had numerous players continue on to play at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels as well has play professionally in the NBA and overseas.

Jerry is an alum of Saint Paul's College in VA where he graduated with high academic honors and played basketball there as well in part of the CIAA Conference.  Jerry is married to Tyeshia Brice-Henderson where they have three boys, twins Rammar and Terrell along with Jeremias “Baby J”.  His Role models are his deceased mother, Cynthia Henderson, and his father Jerry Henderson, Sr. along with his former coach Chris Chevannes who is currently at The Patrick School.
