Chewy Massena Named 1st Team All-American and Selected for the NJCAA Coaches Association All-Star Game

On April 29th Chinua Massena, known to many as Chewy, will proudly be representing Union County College and Region XIX at the NJCAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association 2017 All-Star Men's Basketball Game.

The coaches association has chosen Chewy as one of the top NJCAA basketball sophomores in the nation. This is a tremendous honor to be hand selected as one of the 24 athletes to participate in this high profile game. The two All-Star teams consist of 12 Division I athletes verses 12 Division II and III athletes.

The 2016-17 Basketball season was a tremendous year for Chewy. He led the nation with 28 points per game and 3 pointers made with a percentage of 55.7. Due to his outstanding shooting ability, Chewy's field goal percentage is at 61% and a high 82.3% from the free throw line. His stats also consist of 4.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Chewy's outstanding performance led him to be awarded to the NJCAA 1st Team All-American DIII. He has also been named Region XIX Division III Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Region XIX and 1st Team All-Garden State Athletic Conference.
