Union County College congratulates Men's Basketball player Shaquille Mitchell of Linden, NJ who scored his 1,000th point.  Union hosted Middlesex County College on February 25th for the Region XIX quarterfinal game.  Entering into this game, Shaquille needed to score 19 points to accomplish this feat.  Union defeated Middlesex with an end score of 67-82 which advanced Union to the semifinal game.  Shaquille contributed 13 points in that game leaving him 6 points shy of 1,000 points.

On Thursday, February 27th Union County College met up with Brookdale Community College in the semifinal game for Region XIX playoffs.  Shaquille had a remarkable game scoring 26 points for the Owls and accomplishing a personal achievement of surpassing 1,000 points. 


During Shaquille's career at Union he scored a total of 410 points (14.6 ppg) his freshman season and 610 point (21.8 ppg) his sophomore season.  Shaquille is currently ranked 9th in the country for points scored.
