Owls Fall in Tight Contest at Ocean, 5-4

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Owls fell in a back-and-forth matchup against the Ocean County Vikings by a score of 5-4. 

 

UCC (11-24, 3-11) suffered a tough setback after trading runs with the Vikings. The Owls set the tone early with a three-run second inning, however could not hang on to the lead as the Vikings battled back. Javier Alfonso started up the offense with a RBI triple in the second inning. James Liburd followed that up with a RBI single that brought in Alfonso. Austin Brooks also had a RBI single in the setback. 

 

Jovon Portuondo pitched well as he went the distance in the tough loss. Portuondo scattered 7 hits while allowing just three earned runs in the game.

 

The Owls will be back in action on Tuesday to take on Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
