Owls Take Season Series at Skylands, Defeat Sussex 7-4

AUGUSTA, NJ – Owls Baseball got back in the win column after taking the season series against Sussex County by a score of 7-4. 

 

The Owls (11-20, 3-8) backed a tremendous start by Quincy Bryant with timely hitting and good defense to preserve the season series victory of the Skylanders on Thursday. Austin Brooks and Patrick Connolly were some of the offensive leaders, both contributing two RBIs each to the winning cause. Calvin Colon had a two-hit game including a stolen base. Christian Castro knocked in a RBI on a clutch double to put the Owls back in control of the game.  

 

Owls pitching was brilliant throughout the game with Quincy Bryant going five innings of quality ball to earn his second win on the season. Austin Brooks then relieved him to pick up the hold. Javier Alfonso closed the door on the Skylanders in the ninth inning for his first save of the year.

 

UCC will be back in action tomorrow with a road contest at Lehigh Carbon Community College on the docket. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
