Owls Fall in Conference Play Opener, Fall in Doubleheader to #2 Cumberland

VINELAND, NJ – The Union Owls (4-8, 0-2) fell to #2 Cumberland County Dukes in both games of the doubleheader in the Region XIX Conference opening series. The Dukes are currently ranked second overall in the NJCAA Division III Baseball Rankings.

 

Game 1 | Cumberland 25, Union 0 

 

The Dukes got off to an early start in the game and were paced by 23 hits and 5 home runs in the game. Carlos Marte and Patrick Connolly knocked two singles in the defeat for Union.

 

Game 2 | Cumberland 13, Union 2

 

Brandon Wreckler smacked a two-run home run for the Owls in the defeat. Carlos Marte and Calvin Colon had two hard-hit singles in the game. Marte also added a stolen base to his stat line in the defeat. 

 

The Owls will be back in action with another doubleheader tomorrow on the road at Ulster County Community College. The first pitch for the first game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with the second game immediately following the first.
