Owls Offense Paces UCC to Third-Straight Win, Defeat New River 8-1

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Owls are winners of three straight following their 8-1 victory over New River Community College. 

 

UCC (3-2, 0-0) offense contributed twelve hits to bring in eight runs in the victory over the Muskies. Five Owls had a multi-hit game in the win. The game was scoreless thru the first four frames, but the Owls offense exploded in the final three innings. UCC was also very active on the basepaths. UCC snatched an impressive 10 stolen bases on the day.

 

Carlos Marte led the way with two hits and three RBIs, including a double. Austin Brooks went 2-for-2 on the day with 2 RBIs. Patrick Connolly extended his five-game hit streak with two base knocks and two walks in the game. Kevin Roll was dominant on the mound. The sophomore righty tossed six innings of one-run ball, striking out 11 New River batters on the way to his first victory of the season. Calvin Colon relieved Roll with a perfect seventh inning to close out the game. 

 

The Owls are back in action later in the afternoon with a matchup against Mt. Aloysius. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
