Union County Rallies Past Roadrunner Men's Basketball Thanks to Strong Second Half

Following a superb first half, the Roadrunner men's basketball team could not sustain their momentum against a solid Union County squad.

Guard Nick Sambour led four players in double figures with 14 points, but it wasn't enough as the visiting Owls rallied for an 80-77 triumph to snap the Runners' two-game win streak.

Also scoring in twin figures for RCSJ were Quantavious Rogers (13 points), Khayri Ransom (12) and Ryan Skeie (10).

It appeared that Coach Will Logan's Roadrunners (3-4 overall) were well on their way to a third straight win before Union (4-3) turned on the defensive pressure in the second half.

The Runners raced to a 46-39 halftime lead thanks to 9 points apiece from Ransom and Rogers. But the lead quickly disappeared when the Owls went on a 41-31 run in the second half.

Center Shyhiem Power pumped in 22 points to lead the way for Union followed by teammate Ibn Lynn who deposited 16 points.

Next up for Logan's team will be a home game vs. Montgomery County Community College on Friday, December 3 in the Roadrunner Classic. The Classic runs both Friday and Saturday this weekend.
