Volleyball Tops Owls in 4

Cranford, NJ - The Women's Volleyball Team opened up Garden State Athletic Conference play on Thursday night as they visited the Union County Owls for a 6 PM game. While the Lions were able to win the first set 25-17, they had 13 combined errors in the set which were a sign of things to come. The self inflicted mistakes kept coming as the Lions dropped the second set 24-26. The team found a way to battle through and finished out the game 25-16 and 25-8. Through all of the mistakes the Lions still found some shining moments. Sophomore Middle Hitter Olivia Sims had a monster night with 18 kills on 22 attempts. Fellow Sophomore Brittany Jensen was just as effective tallying 9 kills on 14 attempts with no errors. As dreadful as the Lions' serving often was on the night, with 19 service errors, they had some wonderful service moments as well as they notched a season high 20 service aces. Freshmen Kelly Delaney and Rachel Hatto each posted 6 service aces on the night.

The Lions return to action next Tuesday as they host the Bucs from Atlantic Cape Community College at 6 PM.
