North Branch, NJ - The RV Lions came to play on Tuesday in their doubleheader against Union. Powered in game one by an outstanding pitching performance from Freshman Olivia Sims, the Lions got out to an early lead. Sims threw a no hitter, striking out 12 and walking 4 in 5 innings of work! It was a successful game at the plate for the Lions as well, with highlights like a two run double from Freshman Amanda Monda and a big RBI triple from O. Sims. The lions finished strong, winning game one 11-1.
Freshman Olivia Mele toed the rubber for the Lions in game two, and was backed by more solid offense for the Lions. A home run and a double from Monda, another triple from O. Sims, and a double by freshman Kylie McKevitt led the way for the offense. Mele was strong for the lions, striking out 7 and allowing just 3 hits in 5 innings of work. The Lions secured the sweep on Tuesday, winning game two 11-2.
