Becoming a Student

At UCNJ, there are over 70 exciting programs of study that can help any student on their way to a new career or a four-year college. As the first of New Jersey’s 19 community colleges, Union has been serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. We invite you to apply for admission.

Applying to UCNJ

Applying to Union is easy. We are an open admission college, open to all with a high school diploma or its equivalent, or those persons eighteen years of age or older. Learn more about how to get started at UCNJ.

Transfers & Joint Admission to 4-Year and Graduate Schools

UCNJ graduates have continued their education at hundreds of four year and graduate schools throughout the country. Learn more about our dozens of dual admissions and transfer articulation agreements with four year colleges both in New Jersey and around the US.

Paying for College

Not only does UCNJ have affordable tuition, there are also a wide range of financial aid opportunities for eligible students. No student should let a lack of financial resources stand in the way of continuing their education. We are here to help.

Getting to UCNJ

Union’s four campuses are conveniently located throughout the county, with mass transit options available from many locations.

Placement Testing

All degree students entering UCNJ are required to take the Basic Skills Placement Test, called Accuplacer, in order to measure their reading, writing and math skills. Download our information bulletin or contact the Testing Office to schedule your test.

Institute for Intensive English-ESL

The Institute for Intensive English provides a full-time program of intensive instruction in English for speakers of other languages. The students' objective is to enhance their English language abilities in order to further their academic, career, and/or personal goals.
