UCNJ Volleyball Sweeps at Weekend Tri-Match

Cranford, NJ - UCNJ Women’s Volleyball delivered an impressive preformance this weekend at Rowan College of South Jersey–Gloucester for a tri match. The Owls improved their overall record with two strong victories, taking down RCSJ-Gloucester in straight sets and handling Delaware County in four.

MATCH 1: UCNJ 3, RCSJ Gloucester 0 (25–19, 25–18, 25–20)

Lady Owls opened the day with a dominate win, sweeping RCSJ GloucesterNeika Michel led the Owls’ attack with 10 kills and 2 block assists, finishing with 12 total points. Angeles Rosario added 6 kills and 2 solo blocks, while Maya Kukielo contributed 5 kills. Setter Angela Pieterz  had 17 assists and added a service ace. Giany Puero Zamora, Maya Antonie, and Olivia Centeno each tallied 3 aces to fuel a strong serving performance. Wilny Peti-Frere added two block assists, helping the Owls close the match in three sets.

MATCH 2: UCNJ 3, Delaware CCC 1 (25–14, 25–13, 15–25, 25–17)

In the second match of the day, UCNJ defeated Delaware County Community College 3–1. Neika Michel once again led the team offensively with 12 kills and a .219 hitting percentage. Maya Antonie followed with 8 kills, 3 aces, and 4 block assists, while Maya Kukielo chipped in with 5 digs and a .250 hitting clip.

Defensively, Angela Pieterz led with 16 digs and 15 assists, keeping the Owls steady in serve receive, while also displaying good transition. Giany Puero Zamora added 15 digs and 4 assists, while Olivia Centeno made a major impact at the service line with a match-high six aces. UCNJ finished with a team hitting percentage of .208, totaling 48 points on the day and controlling the pace in every set they won.
